Minority Business Accelerator
Launched in June of 2013, the mission of Commerce Lexington’s Minority Business Accelerator is to accelerate the development of sizable minority business enterprises (MBEs) that have achieved revenues between $250,000 and $6 million, and to strengthen and expand the regional minority entrepreneurial community. The initiative was created from the findings of the 2009 Joint Economic Inclusion Study commissioned by Commerce Lexington and the Lexington-Fayette Urban League. The participants have achieved over $26 million in contracts and procurement since the program’s launch.
The program is supported by the Blue Grass Airport, Fayette County Public Schools, the Kentucky Community & Technical College System, Lexmark, Lexington Transit Authority, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, Messer Construction, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, and the University of Kentucky.
